The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference. A reporter asked: The Ministry of Justice issued a relevant announcement today. The scope of representation of lawyers from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents in civil cases has been further expanded. The spokesperson was asked to explain the relevant situation. In response, Zhang Han, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that today, the Ministry of Justice issued Notice No. 16. Starting from December 3, 2025, Taiwanese residents who have obtained national legal professional qualifications and obtained a lawyer's practice certificate will expand the scope of civil cases represented in mainland China from 237 cases in the original 5 categories to 299 cases in 9 categories, adding 62 cases including maritime commerce, personal rights, property rights, and competition disputes. This liberalization measure will create more opportunities for Taiwanese legal professionals to work and develop in the mainland, participate in the cross-strait legal services market, and provide a wider space. We will uphold the cross-strait family concept, continuously improve systems and policies to promote cross-strait economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation, encourage and support more Taiwanese compatriots to participate in the mainland's economic and social development, and share opportunities and achievements in Chinese-style modern development.
