NS Solutions (TSE:2327) Has Announced A Dividend Of ¥40.00

Simply Wall St · 3d ago

NS Solutions Corporation (TSE:2327) has announced that it will pay a dividend of ¥40.00 per share on the 3rd of June. This takes the dividend yield to 1.9%, which shareholders will be pleased with.

NS Solutions' Future Dividend Projections Appear Well Covered By Earnings

If the payments aren't sustainable, a high yield for a few years won't matter that much. Based on the last payment, NS Solutions' earnings were much higher than the dividend, but it wasn't converting those earnings into cash flow. No cash flows could definitely make returning cash to shareholders difficult, or at least mean the balance sheet will come under pressure.

The next year is set to see EPS grow by 8.7%. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 57% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

Dividend Volatility

While the company has been paying a dividend for a long time, it has cut the dividend at least once in the last 10 years. Since 2015, the dividend has gone from ¥11.25 total annually to ¥80.00. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 22% a year over that time. It is great to see strong growth in the dividend payments, but cuts are concerning as it may indicate the payout policy is too ambitious.

The Dividend Has Growth Potential

With a relatively unstable dividend, it's even more important to evaluate if earnings per share is growing, which could point to a growing dividend in the future. It's encouraging to see that NS Solutions has been growing its earnings per share at 8.7% a year over the past five years. The lack of cash flows does make us a bit cautious though, especially when it comes to the future of the dividend.

In Summary

In summary, while it's always good to see the dividend being raised, we don't think NS Solutions' payments are rock solid. With cash flows lacking, it is difficult to see how the company can sustain a dividend payment. We don't think NS Solutions is a great stock to add to your portfolio if income is your focus.

It's important to note that companies having a consistent dividend policy will generate greater investor confidence than those having an erratic one.
