Citigroup is expanding its US investment-grade bond trading division to join other Wall Street banks in preparation for what could be a record surge in corporate bond issuance next year, driven by a boom in artificial intelligence investment. According to people familiar with the matter, Citi has hired Chris Schuville, who previously worked for HSBC Holdings, as a leader of its high-rated corporate bond trading team. One of the sources added that Schuville arrived last week and will focus on technology, media and telecommunications. As details were not disclosed, the person requested anonymity. Larry Liou will also be joining the company this month as a credit specialist and as the chief analyst for the trading department. According to his LinkedIn profile, he previously held a similar position at TD Securities America, where he was responsible for various industries. Citigroup has been expanding its trading business since the middle of this year. Former UBS Group trader Joe Griffith joined Citigroup in October, while former TD Securities trader Tifanie Ip joined in July.
