The World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) reported an outbreak of animal blue tongue disease in Poland on the 27th. A cow on a farm with 39 heads of livestock was detected to be infected with the blue tongue disease virus. Bluetongue disease is an animal infectious disease caused by the bluetongue virus. The bluetongue virus spreads through blood-sucking insects such as Aedes mosquitoes, and mainly causes outbreaks in ruminants such as sheep and cows. Symptoms of blue tongue disease include high fever, mucosal edema, and ulcers. Currently, the blue tongue disease virus has not been found to be contagious to humans.
