Hong Kong Stock Exchange (00388): Appointment of Wu Zhiheng as Managing Director and Head of Trading Operations

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on October 13, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (00388) announced the appointment of Hu Zhiheng as Managing Director and Head of Trading Operations. Wu Zhiheng will join the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on October 20, 2025, responsible for leading the trading operations team in the spot and derivatives markets, and reporting to Xu Liang, head of operations of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. HKEx also announced the appointment of Guo Hanxiao as Managing Director and Head of Connectivity Business. The term of office will take effect from 1 January 2026.

Liu Biyan, Chief Operating Officer of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, said that Wu Zhiheng was very welcome to join the HKEx team. He has rich operational management experience and strategic vision, and is good at responding flexibly to changes in the financial market. His joining will help enhance the company's operational efficiency, business development and adaptability, and further support the flourishing development of the Hong Kong market.

Prior to joining the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Wu worked for HSBC as Managing Director, Chief Risk Control Officer of the Group's Global Operations Department, Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Head of Global Procurement. Previously, he worked at J.P. Morgan Chase for 16 years, during which time he was promoted to the position of managing director. He has a master's degree in economics from the University of Hong Kong and a bachelor's degree in economics and commerce from the University of British Columbia.

Guo Hanxiao will be responsible for leading the marketing department's newly established connectivity team to coordinate the Hong Kong Stock Exchange's connectivity projects under various asset classes, and report to Yu Xueqin, head of marketing.

Yu Xueqin, head of marketing at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, said he was happy to find excellent talent from within the group to fill this new position. Connectivity is one of the Group's core and most successful businesses, and I believe Guo Hanxiao's vision and expertise will help drive the continued development of this business.

Guo Hanxiao is currently the co-head of the trading department. He is mainly responsible for leading the spot stock market, Shanghai-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Exchange, customer service, and market structure teams. She has held key positions at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange for over 17 years, having previously worked for UBS. Guo Hanxiao has a master's degree in engineering and computer science from Oxford University.
