The Zhitong Finance App learned that on September 19, Hong Kong International Airport published an article stating that in August 2025, Hong Kong International Airport's airport passenger traffic reached 5.68 million, and the number of aircraft take-off and landing was 34,840, up 15.8% and 10.2% year-on-year respectively; passenger traffic also hit a single-day high after the pandemic. The rise in air traffic in August was mainly due to a rebound in travel demand to and from Japan, as well as continued growth in travel to and from mainland China and other destinations.

During the summer vacation period, the number of passengers per day exceeded 200,000 on August 10, which was the peak of single-day passenger traffic after the epidemic and set a new single-day record after the pandemic. The airport's record for the highest passenger volume in a single day does not take into account the increase in passenger traffic due to flight adjustments due to bad weather.

Freight volume increased 5.6% year-on-year to 429,000 tonnes during the month, mainly benefiting from continued demand for freight to and from Europe and the Middle East, offsetting the decline in freight volume to and from North America. The increase in freight volume was also driven by a 13.5% increase in transit cargo volume.

In the first eight months of this year, passenger traffic and aircraft take-offs and landings increased 15.4% and 9.9% year-on-year to 40.3 million passengers and 260,830 flights. Freight volume increased by 2.6% year-on-year to 3.3 million tonnes.

In the past 12 months, passenger traffic jumped 16.7% year on year to 58.4 million passengers; aircraft take-off and landing volume increased 11.9% to 38,6655; while cargo volume increased 5.0% year over year to 5 million metric tons.
