The Zhitong Finance App learned that the coffee chain Black Rock Coffee Bar (BRCB.US) announced on Thursday that it has raised 294.1 million US dollars in a US initial public offering (IPO). The Scottsdale, Arizona-based company issued approximately 14.7 million shares at a price of $20 each, which is above the issue price guidance range of $16 to $18. The IPO valued Black Rock Coffee Bar at $956.3 million.

According to reports, Black Rock Coffee Bar's IPO demand is strong. Sources revealed that underwriters expect demand to be 20 times the size of the offering.

This listing will be a litmus test for investors' trading sentiment in the consumer sector, which is undergoing major changes due to tariff changes, continued inflation, and changing labor conditions.

Despite strong growth in recent quarters, Black Rock Coffee Bar's costs have also continued to rise due to tariffs and inflation.

Renaissance Capital, an agency focusing on IPO research and ETFs, said the company was the first American restaurant to go public since the Cava (CAVA.US) IPO in 2023.

Established in 2008, Black Rock Coffee is a drive-free café operator that sells hot coffee, iced coffee, and energy drinks. As of June 30, 2025, the coffee chain had a total of 158 stores in seven US states. Its revenue for the 12-month period ended June 30 was US$179.5 million.

Another drive-free coffee chain, Dutch Bros (BROS.US), went public in 2021. Since its listing, its stock price has more than doubled.

Looking ahead, Black Rock Coffee is expected to open more stores this year, which means that the company's competition with large chains such as Starbucks (SBUX.US), Dutch Bros, and Scooter's will gradually intensify.

Black Rock Coffee Bar will be traded on NASDAQ on Friday under the ticker symbol “BRCB.” J.P. Morgan Chase, Jefferies, Morgan Stanley, and Baird are the lead underwriters for this launch.
