Consumer and commercial demand both increased by 13% and 12%, respectively. Amid this wave of growth, Lenovo (00992), as a global PC giant, continues to consolidate its leading position in the Chinese market. In particular, its layout in the AI PC field has attracted much attention. At the same time, the tablet market also experienced 18% year-on-year growth, with shipments reaching 9.1 million units. With diversified product strategies, Lenovo maintained its competitiveness in a competitive market.

The report shows that the growth of the PC market this quarter was mainly driven by government consumption subsidies and strong procurement by state-owned enterprises and government procurement.

In the second quarter of 2025, Lenovo continued to maintain its leading position in the Chinese PC market, with desktop and laptop shipments reaching 3.4 million units, up 13% year over year, and increasing its market share to 34%. According to Lenovo Group's latest financial report, in the Q1 fiscal quarter, Lenovo's AI PC shipments with the “five major AI characteristics” accounted for 27% of total notebook shipments; in the global market, Lenovo's AI PC shipments already accounted for more than 30% of total PC shipments.

The tablet market also performed well. Shipments increased 18% year over year, totaling 9.1 million units this quarter, but competition intensified. Through the Tab series of products, Lenovo targets gamers, creators, and casual users. Using AI feature and specification upgrades as a differentiated selling point, Lenovo achieved an annual growth rate of 54%, and its market share increased to 8%.

In terms of future prospects, Canalys predicts that the PC market in mainland China will grow 2% year on year in 2025 and 3% in 2026, mainly driven by subsidies and switching demand; among them, the AI PC penetration rate will increase rapidly, reaching 34% in 2025, and further rising to 52% in 2026. By the end of 2029, the Greater China region is expected to have shipped a total of about 107 million AI PCs, laying a solid installed foundation for the widespread use of AI applications. In this growth trend, Lenovo is a key player, and its global strategy and AI layout will determine its growth trajectory over the next few years.

Canalys senior analyst Emma Xu (Emma Xu) said that the government officially released the “Artificial Intelligence +” campaign in August, which will accelerate the construction of local AI infrastructure and the spread of edge devices (including AI PCs), and will also promote the commercialization of AI agents and assistants on these devices in the next few years. In this context, the commercialization of equipment from manufacturers such as Lenovo will also usher in a golden period.
