The extended six-seater Model YL enters Waltesla (TSLA.US) sales starting at 339,000 yuan to break the game

The Zhitong Finance App learned that Tesla (TSLA.US) officially opened pre-orders for the new Model YL model in the Chinese market on Tuesday, starting at 339,000 yuan (about 47,184 US dollars). This move is seen as a strategic adjustment in response to increased local competition. As the world's largest automobile market, Tesla simultaneously updated its product line layout in the Chinese market.

This model, which was first released in 2020, reached the top of the world's best-selling car list in 2023, but its market advantage weakened last year due to new local forces such as the Xiaomi YU7 entering the market, compounded by weak demand for electric vehicles in many countries. According to the data, Tesla's sales of electric vehicles made in China fell 8.4% year on year in July, highlighting the urgency of transformation.

In order to revive competitiveness, Tesla launched a new Model Y with an upgraded appearance and optimized functionality in the Asia-Pacific market in January of this year, and submitted a Model YL model registration plan to the Chinese regulatory authorities in July.

According to the official website, the Model Y L is a pure electric SUV with a long wheelbase and a six-seater layout. It has a range of 751 km under CLTC (Chinese Light Vehicle Driving Conditions). It only takes 4.5 seconds to accelerate to 100 kilometers, and the maximum speed is 201 km/h.

It is worth noting that the filing information disclosed by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology during the same period shows that the long-range rear-wheel drive Model 3 will also enter the domestic market, forming a synergy effect in the product matrix.

This pricing strategy continues Tesla's consistent market sensitivity — starting at 339,000 yuan, accurate card slots in the middle and high-end NEV range, which not only avoids direct competition with low-priced local brands, but also maintains technical premium capabilities through configuration upgrades. As the Tennessee nuclear power supply project progresses in 2030, Tesla's global energy strategy and product iteration are forming a dual driver.
