Hong Kong Stock Exchange: Appoints Zhang Yong, former chairman of Alibaba (09988), as a member of the China Business Advisory Committee

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 1, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange announced the appointment of Zhang Yong, partner of Chenyi Fund and former chairman of the board of directors of Alibaba (09988), as the newest member of the China Business Advisory Committee under the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

HKEx Chairman Tang Ka-shing said he was happy that Mr. Zhang Yong joined the China Business Advisory Committee. He has extensive experience and a deep understanding of Chinese enterprises and financial markets. He can provide valuable advice to the HKEx Board to help HKEx take advantage of its unique advantage of “connecting China and the world” and implement various strategic goals.

According to data, Zhang Yong is currently the managing partner of Chenyi Fund. Prior to joining the Chenyi Foundation, he joined Alibaba Group in 2007, during which time he held several important positions. He was the CEO of Alibaba Group since 2015, and also the chairman of the Alibaba Group's board of directors from 2019 until he left office in 2023.

After Zhang Yong joins, the number of members of the China Business Advisory Committee will increase to nine. Zhang Yichen, a non-executive director of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Chairman and CEO of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited, will serve as the chairman of the committee. Other members of the committee include former Chairman of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Hu Zuliu, Chairman of Chunhua Capital Group; Professor Huang Yiping, Dean of the National Development Research Institute of Peking University and Director of the Digital Finance Research Center; Ma Weihua, current Chairman of the National Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Guidance Fund and former President and CEO of China Merchants Bank; Sun Qiang, partner and chairman of TPG China; Tang Jiacheng, Chairman of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Group; and Chen Yiting, CEO of HKEx Group.
