The leaders of Cambodia and Thailand held a joint press conference with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar after the formal talks ended today. The three parties later issued a joint statement stating: 1. Cambodia and Thailand will immediately cease fire without conditions, which will take effect at 24:00 local time on July 28; 2. An informal meeting of regional commanders will be held at 7:00 local time on July 29; and 3. A joint border committee meeting hosted by Cambodia will be held on August 4. As the rotating chairmanship of ASEAN, Malaysia stands ready to organize an observer group to verify and ensure implementation by Cambodia and Thailand. Furthermore, Cambodia and Thailand also agreed to resume direct communication between the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Defense Minister.
