A group of investors purchased the Sandalwood Beach Resort at 17100 Gulf Blvd. for $6 million. Century 21 broker Jeffery Beggins and local developer Bill Karns, through Nored Beach Development, plan to redevelop the resort, which was damaged beyond repair following Hurricane Helene in 2024. The Sandalwood was built in 1959 and has 47 fully furnished units with a pool and private beach access. The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports the new ownership expects to demolish and build new. The storm also destroyed a number of other hotels, such as The Sails Resort Motel.

Beggins is also involved in redeveloping the hurricane-damaged Schooner Motel and Beachside Suites. In April, he and a group of Madeira Beach residents closed on over an acre of land for $7.95 million. A 56-room luxury boutique resort is planned.
