The Zhitong Finance App learned that Amazon (AMZN.US) founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos (Jeff Bezos) recently sold company shares worth nearly US$666 million, as part of its plan to eventually sell up to 25 million shares. According to a US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, the latest deal involved around 3 million shares and was completed within two days in early July.

The sale was carried out in accordance with a pre-set trading plan adopted by Bezos earlier this year, which allows him to sell up to 25 million Amazon shares by May 29, 2026. The value of this portion of the shares is estimated at around US$4.75 billion based on current stock prices.

Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon in 2021 and sold $736.7 million worth of company shares in the last few days at the end of June this year. Despite continuing to reduce its holdings, Bezos is still Amazon's largest shareholder. Currently, it holds about 900 million shares of the company, with a market capitalization close to 200 billion US dollars.
