The Zhitong Finance App learned that renewable energy developer Invenergy and Meta Platforms (META.US) said on Thursday that the two companies have signed four agreements to supply 791 megawatts (MW) of solar and wind energy to the latter's data center. The parties did not disclose financial details of the agreement.

Invenergy said the current solar and wind energy projects will be located in Ohio, Arkansas and Texas, and the electricity generated will be transferred to the local grid, and Meta will obtain clean energy certificates related to the new generation capacity.

This is Meta's latest round of energy procurement agreements in the context of continuing to promote the use of clean energy to meet the surging demand for data center electricity brought about by artificial intelligence technology. Last year, Meta signed four agreements with Invenergy to purchase 760 megawatts of solar power. Invenergy said the new agreement on Thursday will expand the total scale of cooperation between the two sides to 1,800 megawatts.

Meta has previously announced agreements with several large-scale solar projects and a geothermal startup, and is seeking proposals from nuclear power developers.
