On June 20, Tsinghua University responded to the “female professor smashed to death by a tree” incident: At around 17:00 on June 15, an off-campus enterprise providing landscaping maintenance services to the school carried out dead tree removal operations in violation of regulations near the campus welding hall. The tree fell and hit the family of a passing school employee. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital for emergency treatment, but unfortunately passed away after exhaustive treatment was ineffective. The school was deeply saddened by the accident. As soon as possible, it expressed its deep apologies and condolences to the families of the deceased, and made every effort to do a good job in the aftermath. Currently, relevant government departments are investigating the accident. The school has set up a special working group to cooperate with relevant departments to carry out investigation and disposal and initiate in-school accountability procedures. At the same time, it has carried out a comprehensive investigation of potential safety hazards related to the campus to further strengthen safety management and ensure campus safety.
