Costco Taking Place of Littleton Tower

The wrecking ball has taken down the old Qwest Tower building in Littleton. The move was to make way for a mixed-use development known as Mineral Place. The demolition is part of a larger project that will remove around 800,000 square feet of buildings at the site to open the doors for Mineral Place.

The Denver Business Journal reports the 130-foot tower was constructed in 1970 when a rubber company opened a tire manufacturing plant near South Broadway and County Line Road. The facility was later converted into an office complex by communications company Qwest, prior to the property being acquired by Lumen Technologies.

The first phase involves a Costco Warehouse, which is expected to open next year. The redevelopment project will also include a second major retail store, nine smaller stores and a 370-unit luxury apartment community, dubbed The Sullivan, which Embrey will construct. Republic Investment Group is developing the project.

The plans also feature a 6,250-square-foot Portillo’s restaurant with 98 parking spaces.
