ByteDance releases next-generation AI model with price cut by more than 60%

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on June 11, Volcano Engine, a cloud service platform owned by TikTok's parent company ByteDance, held the Volcano Engine Force Power Conference. Company President Tan Dai officially released the Doubao Big Model 1.6 and announced that it will adopt a unified pricing model. In terms of price, the Doubao Big Model was once again lowered. The minimum was 2.6 yuan/million tokens. Compared with the price of the Doubao Big Model 1.5 and 7 yuan/million tokens for DeepSeek-R1, it was a sharp drop of 63%.

At the FORCE Power Conference, Volcano Engine officially released the Doubao Big Model 1.6, the Douba·Video Generation Model Seedance 1.0 Pro, and the Douba·Voice Podcast Model. The Douba·real-time voice model was fully launched on Volcano Engine, and the Doubao Big Model Family has become a leading model with full modality, full size, and high cost performance. By the end of May 2025, the Doubao Big Model's average daily token usage was over 16.4 trillion dollars, an increase of 137 times over when it was first released in May last year.

ByteDance CEO Liang Rubo said that doing a good job in volcano engines is important for ByteDance to become an excellent technology company and maintain technological competitiveness. In terms of price, Doubao Big Model 1.6 uses a unified pricing model. It was first priced according to the “input length” range. Within the 0-32K range most used by enterprises, the price of Doubao Big Model 1.6 is an input of 0.8 yuan/million tokens and an output of 8 yuan/million tokens. The comprehensive cost is 63% lower than the Doubao 1.5 · Deep Thinking Model and DeepSeek R1. The Seedance 1.0 pro model costs 0.015 yuan per 1,000 tokens, which is equivalent to only 3.67 yuan per 5-second 1080P video generation, the lowest in the industry.

Currently, agents that can think, plan, and complete tasks independently are gradually entering enterprise production scenarios. At the conference, ByteDance Technology Vice President Hong Dingkun and Volcano Engine President Tan Dai unveiled 12 tool products for Agent development and application. Tan Dai said that in the AI era, development paradigms, big data, computing, and security are all undergoing major changes. The new “AI cloud native” technology stack formed by this is the key for enterprises to build good agents and innovate and develop.
