Shanghai Customs recently revealed that in the first 4 months of this year, Shanghai's foreign trade imports and exports amounted to 1.4 trillion yuan, an increase of 1% over the previous year. Among them, the export value reached 629.02 billion yuan, up 13.8% year on year, 1.2 percentage points faster than in the first quarter. Qu Huili, director of the Statistics and Analysis Department of Shanghai Customs, explained that Shanghai has been very effective in developing emerging markets. In the first 4 months, it had import and export records for more than 200 countries and regions. Of these, growth was achieved for 166 trading partners. In particular, imports and exports to the “Belt and Road” countries reached nearly 600 billion yuan, an increase of 11.9%. Furthermore, trade ties with important node regions such as the Middle East and Eastern Europe are closer, and the import and export growth rate is over 20%. “Shanghai Customs has carried out special actions to facilitate cross-border trade for 8 consecutive years, focusing on creating a safe, convenient and efficient port business environment.” Zhang Lu, deputy director of the General Operations Department of Shanghai Customs, said. In February of this year, the country's first CAR-T cell therapy drug was transported and used across borders. The entire process took less than 48 hours, from patient blood collection, air transportation, customs declaration, and entry quarantine approval for special items to inspection, release, and follow-up supervision.
