Chicago-based Energize Capital has closed its latest Ventures fund, which managing partner John Tough said was oversubscribed and was raised at record speed. The company said the $430-million Ventures Fund III will back earlier-stage companies focused on scaling and empowering the next chapter of energy and industrial innovation through digital and software-enabled solutions.

“This marks our fifth institutional fund and the third dedicated to our Ventures strategy, reinforcing our conviction that climate solutions aren’t just indispensable—they’re only getting started,” Tough wrote in a blog posting.

He continued, “Since we started investing, the climate solutions landscape has expanded far beyond what we thought was possible … The reshoring of manufacturing, the digitization of industrial operations, and the rise of the circular economy are reshaping physical infrastructure—and each of these shifts depends on software to optimize performance, reduce waste, and manage complexity.”
