US White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett criticized Moody's decision to downgrade America's credit rating, saying the move was retrospective, and said the Trump administration is committed to cutting federal spending. “Make no mistake, US debt is the safest bet on Earth. There is no country more appealing to me than the US, so Moody's can do whatever it wants,” Hassett said on Monday. “It's a retrospective move that punishes us for all the reckless spending of the Biden administration,” Hassett said, blaming the decision on former US President Joe Biden's fiscal policy. “We're cutting spending and deregulating. We have supply-side growth, so we have every reason to believe our economy will be the best on the planet,” he said. “If you have the best economy on Earth, you'll also have the best debt on Earth. This is my assessment of it.”
