The Ministry of Commerce held a round table for foreign trade enterprises

On May 12, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao hosted a round table on foreign trade enterprises. Representatives from 12 foreign trade enterprises, 6 import and export chambers of commerce, and relevant experts from the China Macroeconomic Research Institute attended the conference to exchange views on topics such as the current foreign trade situation and support for the development of foreign trade enterprises. Li Yongping, Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Commerce, attended the meeting.

Wang Wentao said that the Party Central Committee attaches great importance to foreign trade work. Since this year, the impact of external shocks has increased, and the foreign trade situation is very complex and serious. However, China's foreign trade has generally been running smoothly, showing strong resilience. Faced with the unprovoked imposition of high tariffs on our products by the US side, China has resolutely taken countermeasures, safeguarded its own interests and international fairness and justice, and won international respect. Recently, high-level economic and trade talks between China and the US reached important agreements and made substantial progress, laying the foundation and creating conditions for further bridging differences and deepening cooperation. In the next step, the Ministry of Commerce will earnestly implement the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee, coordinate domestic economic work and international economic and trade struggles, and work with relevant departments to make every effort to relieve and solve problems for foreign trade enterprises, provide more support, help foreign trade enterprises explore markets, and promote the stable development of foreign trade.

Representatives from departments such as the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the General Administration of Market Supervision, and the General Administration of Financial Supervision responded to questions and suggestions raised by enterprises. Representatives of participating companies and chambers of commerce said they are confident of coping with external shocks and achieving steady business development.
