Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu met with Simon Steele, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat in Beijing. Huang Runqiu appreciated the efforts of the Convention Secretariat and Executive Secretary to prepare for COP29, explained China's position on supporting COP29 to achieve positive results, and expressed his willingness to work with all parties to push COP29 to set new collective quantitative climate finance targets, and reach a balanced package of results on topics such as mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, thus providing impetus for developing countries to prepare a new round of nationally owned contributions and inject stability and certainty into global climate governance.
