The Zhitong Finance App learned that the China Steel Association issued an article stating that according to customs statistics flash data, in September 2024, China imported 554,000 tons of steel, an increase of 45,000 tons over the previous month, an increase of 8.8%; the average price was 1674.9 US dollars/ton, a decrease of 64.8 US dollars/ton over the previous month, a decrease of 3.7%. From January to September, a total of 5.185 million tons of steel were imported, a year-on-year decrease of 514,000 tons, a decrease of 9.0%.

In September 2024, China imported 104.132 million tons of iron ore, an increase of 2.742 million tons over the previous month, an increase of 2.7%; the average price was 95.5 US dollars/ton, a decrease of 7.1 US dollars/ton, a decrease of 6.9% over the previous month. From January to September, a total of 918.866 million tons of iron ore were imported, an increase of 42.969 million tons over the same period last year, an increase of 4.9%.

In September 2024, China exported 10.153 million tons of steel, an increase of 658,000 tons over the previous month, an increase of 6.9%; the average price was 719.6 US dollars/ton, a decrease of 35.9 US dollars/ton, or 4.8%. From January to September, a total of 807.11 million tons of steel were exported, an increase of 14.106 million tons over the same period last year, an increase of 21.2%.
