Affinity Federal Credit Union (“Affinity”) celebrated their third annual Impact Day on October 14, 2024. Affinity employees volunteered at non-profit organizations committed to enhancing wellbeing on the federal holiday when branches are closed. This year, over 320 employees dedicated their time, contributing nearly 1,000 total volunteer hours to support community wellbeing across New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut.

The day began with employees gathering at their host Affinity branch. The volunteers came together from Middletown, NJ, to Rockland County, NY, and eastward to New Haven, CT. After a live town hall address by CEO and President, Kevin Brauer, the teams embarked on an afternoon of impactful service. Their contributions supported notable organizations such as Bonnie Brae, Flemington Area Food Pantry, and the Center for Great Expectations. Remote employees are also invited to engage in local community initiatives.

Highlights of Affinity’s volunteer efforts below:

  • Bonnie Brae: Over 50 pieces of furniture were unpackaged and built, and more than 1,000 holiday cards prepared for youth and families in crisis in New Jersey.
  • Elijah’s Promise: 630 meals prepped, and 150 hours donated for the food insecure in central New Jersey.
  • Tabby’s Place: Volunteers completed the day’s laundry, cleaned areas of the facility, and socialized cats of all ages and ailments for enrichment.
  • Lake Papaianni Park: Collected garbage from the park in Edison, New Jersey, resulting in roughly 10 full bags of debris.

“We believe that our impact is significant when we work hand in hand with our communities,” said Pam Cohen, Chief Administrative Officer of Affinity Federal Credit Union. “On this day, we celebrate our collective efforts to uplift those around us, not just showcasing our financial wellbeing initiatives, but our commitment to the overall wellbeing of the communities in the Greater New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut area.”

“Our commitment goes beyond conventional financial services, as we focus on the wellbeing of the communities we serve,” said Kevin Brauer, CEO and President of Affinity Federal Credit Union. “Our volunteer efforts during Impact Day amplify our belief in our ‘people helping people’ philosophy. We are dedicated to creating a lasting positive change for our members.”
