The Zhitong Finance App learned that Dell Technology (DELL.US), one of the world's largest server sellers, will soon begin shipping devices equipped with the Nvidia (NVDA.US) Blackwell artificial intelligence accelerator, which indicates that production of this chip has returned to the original plan.

Arthur Lewis, president of Dell's infrastructure division, said in an interview that artificial intelligence-oriented servers equipped with Blackwell chips will be shipped to some customers next month and fully launched in early 2025.

The launch of Nvidia's latest generation of advanced semiconductors for artificial intelligence has been closely watched by the industry and investors. Earlier this year, the plan was delayed due to engineering issues. In August, Nvidia Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress said that the company had made changes to increase production of Blackwell chips, and production is expected to accelerate starting in November.

Dell is focusing on expanding its business selling high-performance servers for artificial intelligence work. On Tuesday, the company unveiled a range of new servers and other infrastructure products.

Investors are excited about the company's new growth engine, which is famous for PCs. As of Tuesday's close, Dell's stock price had increased 68% this year and was included in the S&P 500 index last month. Despite this, some analysts are concerned about the profitability of Dell's products for artificial intelligence and its competitive position with competitors such as ultra-micro computers (SMCI.US).

Lewis said what makes Dell unique is its existing relationships with customers and a wide range of services and products. He added that's why the company was able to get Nvidia chips as early as possible.

Lewis said Nvidia CEO Wong In-hoon wanted his company's chips to be put into use “as soon as possible.” “You win customers, you win quotas”.
