The reporter learned from the Ministry of Water Resources that recently, the first phase of the south-to-north water diversion project was successfully completed in 2023-2024, transferring 1,001 billion cubic meters of water from Jiangsu to Shandong. Over the past 11 years, the South-to-North East Water Diversion Project has transferred a total of 7.139 billion cubic meters of water into Shandong, and the East Line North Extension Project has transferred a total of 825 million cubic meters of water, directly benefiting the population of 172 million people. The water quality continues to be stable to meet Class III and above standards for surface water. This year, it also used multiple steps of the East Line Phase I project to lift 882 million cubic meters of water for emergency drought relief, supplying 394 million cubic meters of emergency water to Shandong.
