Homebuilder Lennar has received approval from a Buckeye planning board to build a mixed-use venture at the corner of West Southern Avenue and South Watson Blvd. Called Ventana Ranch South, the master-planned development is expected to include housing and a number of other uses.

AZBEX reports the property is intended to support residents and employees through the development of retail, restaurants and services. The land will also provide office, light industrial and employment opportunities. 11.2 acres will be utilized for homes, while approximately 43.9 acres will be rezoned to allow for the various commercial real estate components.

The development team consists of Lennar Arizona, LLC, the owner, Tiffany & Bosco, PA, the attorney and Stantec, the civil engineer.

Buckeye is Arizona’s largest city by area, and it is the westernmost suburb in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 census, the population was 91,502, up from 50,876 in 2010, and 6,537 in 2000.
