CANADA STOCKS-TSX futures rise ahead of domestic and US data

- Futures for Canada's main stock index rose on Friday ahead of the crucial U.S. inflation data and domestic GDP that can offer more clarity on the rate-cut outlook in both economies.

September futures on the S&P/TSX index SXFcv1 were up 0.2% at 6:15 a.m. ET (10:15 GMT).

Across the border, faster-than-expected growth in the U.S. economy created a better scenario for a soft landing and allayed fears of an imminent recession.

The focus will be on the core personal consumption expenditures, the Federal Reserve's favoured inflation measure, which is due for released later today, to infer the pace and extent of interest rate cut month.

Back home, investors will assess second-quarter gross domestic product estimates to check the resilience of the economy ahead of week's Bank of Canada monetary policy meeting, where the central bank is expected to trim rates for the third consecutive time. 0#BOCWATCH

Oil prices eased, set to bring focus on the energy sector, as supply concerns in Libya and Iraq countered signs of weak demand in China.

Canada's materials sector was poised to gain attention as gold prices hovered an all-time high on higher U.S. rate-cut bets. Meanwhile, an uptick in copper prices also provided support. GOL/ MET/L

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE closed an all-time high hit earlier in the week after strong U.S. GDP data.

In corporate , Pluribus Technologies PLRB.V reported a bigger second-quarter loss, primarily due to an impairment charge taken against the goodwill of Social5, a social media marketing company it acquired in 2022.
