Trading Bonds


How can I place a bond order?

U.S. Treasury and Corporate Bonds are available for trading on Webull. You can place bond orders through the mobile app, desktop platform, or WebTrade using cash, margin, or IRA accounts. Existing bond holdings can be viewed under the My Positions tab. Please follow the instructions below to navigate each platform:


App:

  1. Tap Markets at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select Bonds under the Discover section at the top.
  3. Choose the bond you’d like to trade and tap the blue Trade button.
  4. Select Buy or Sell, enter the amount, and ensure the Limit Price matches the current Ask or Bid.
  5. Tap Buy or Sell at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Review the details and tap Confirm on the order confirmation page.

Desktop

  1. Tap Markets on the left side of the screen.
  2. Select the Bonds tab.
  3. Choose the bond you’d like to trade.
  4. Select Buy or Sell, enter the amount, and ensure the Limit Price matches the current Ask or Bid.
  5. Tap Buy or Sell at the bottom.
  6. Review the details and tap Buy (or Sell) on the order confirmation page.

Web:

  1. Tap Markets on the left side of the screen.
  2. Select the Bonds tab.
  3. Choose the bond you’d like to trade.
  4. Select Buy or Sell, enter the amount, and ensure the Limit Price matches the current Ask (buy) or Bid (sell).
  5. Tap Place Order at the bottom.
  6. Review the details and tap Buy (or Sell) on the order confirmation page.

How to I find the Bonds Trader layout?

The Bonds Trader layout is exclusively available on desktop. To access this intuitive pre-set layout, please follow these instructions:


Desktop:

  1. Navigate to Custom.
  2. Select New Layout (top right "+" icon)
  3. Select Bonds Trader.

When can I place an order?

Bonds can be traded between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM ET.


What order types are supported?

Webull bond trading supports Limit orders only. Bond orders will execute only when the submitted limit price matches the quoted Ask or Bid price. When placing an order, make sure your Limit Price matches the Ask or Bid shown at the top of the screen.


What is the markup at the bottom of the screen when I’m placing my trade?

The markup is a fee determined based on the market value of your order.


What is the Accrued Interest Payable at the bottom of my order entry?

It represents the interest the buyer needs to pay to the seller.


What fees are associated with bond trading?

The markup rate is calculated based on the principal value of the trade, which refers to the total transaction amount excluding any accrued interest.


Can I get a margin call by buying or selling a bond?

Yes, buying or selling bonds on margin can trigger a margin call.


What is the trading settlement period for bonds?

The settlement time for bond trades is T+1.


Can I sell a bond before it reaches its maturity?

Bonds can be sold to a willing buyer before their maturity date in the secondary market.
