Fractional shares allow you to purchase a portion of a share rather than a whole share, enabling you to invest in high-priced stocks with as little as $1. Webull offers fractional trading for select stocks and ETFs.

How do I trade fractional shares on Webull?

App:

1. Select a security that supports fractional share trading.
2. Trade ➝ Order Type: Market/Limit ➝ Amount in: Share/USD
3. Enter your desired quantity or dollar amount.
4. Review and confirm your order.

Desktop:

1. Search for the stock you want to trade.
2. In the Trade widget, click the $ icon next to the Quantity field.
3. Enter the dollar amount you wish to invest.
4. Review the order details and confirm your submission.

Web:

1. Search for the stock you want to trade.
2. In the Classic Trade widget, click the Share icon (next to the Quantity field) until it switches to $.
3. Enter the dollar amount you wish to invest.
4. Review the order details and confirm your submission.

What types of securities support fractional share trading?

Fractional trading is available for select U.S. stocks and ETFs. Look for a green diamond icon on the stock quote page to identify eligible securities.

When can I trade fractional shares?

Fractional share trading is available during regular market hours only (9:30 AM – 4:00 PM EST). It is not available during extended hours.

What order types are supported for fractional share trading?

You can place Market and Limit orders.

• Market orders can be submitted using either a share amount or dollar amount.
• Limit orders must be submitted using a share amount.

What is the minimum trade size for fractional shares?

• Buy minimum: $1 and more than 0.00001 shares
• Sell minimum: $0.01 and more than 0.00001 shares

Can I short fractional shares?

No. Short selling is not supported for fractional share trading.

Can I modify a fractional share order after submitting it?

No. Fractional share orders cannot be modified once submitted. If the order is still pending, you can cancel and resubmit a new order.

Can I lend out fractional shares through Webull’s stock lending program?

Yes. Webull’s stock lending program allows clients to lend out eligible fractional shares in addition to whole shares.

Can I transfer fractional shares to another broker?

No. Fractional shares are liquidated before a full outgoing transfer. The cash proceeds from the liquidation are sent as a residual transfer to your new brokerage.
