Census Bureau's Advance Retail Sales Report for June revealed headline sales were flat last month. Core sales rose 0.4% in June, coming in higher than the expected 0.1% growth. Retail sales breakdown: Clothes and AI laptops are winning out over furniture and home improvement
Retail sales were flat in June on a 0.1% month-over-month basis. The clothing and clothing accessories category outpaced the broad retail numbers for the second straight month. Categories that showed weakness included furniture and home improvement. Retail sales rose just 2.3% on a year- over-year comparison.
