Stocks finish the week strong, tech earnings fuel rally

All three of the major indexes closed higher on Friday. Strong earnings from Alphabet and Microsoft fueled the market action. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 both closed higher in the wake of strong earnings from both companies. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&M 500 also closed higher.

How major US stock indexes fared Friday, 4/26/2024

The S&P 500 rose 1% Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.4%, and the Nasdaq composite gained 2%. Alphabet and Microsoft led the U.S. Stock market to its first winning week in the last four and its biggest weekly gain since November.

Alphabet, Microsoft Earnings Boost Market

Google’s parent Alphabet and Microsoft were on track to add $686 billion in market capitalization this week. The “Magnificent Seven” group includes Tesla, Apple, Amazon.com and Nvidia. The tech stocks were all up on Friday after strong earnings reports.
