Consumer CPI read: Food at home prices rose 1% in May. The Consumer Price Index report for May indicated a 3.4% year-over-year increase in the core inflation rate. The closely watched food category was up 2.1% in the month. The pace of inflation for food at home has now been below the Federal Reserve's target rate for eight straight months.
