China should raise import tariffs on large gasoline-powered cars to 25%, says research body. China's current import tariff for cars is 15%. Higher duty for cars with larger engines would hit principally German carmakers. The country faces sharply higher auto import duties and possibly additional duties to enter the EU.

US agency opens probe into over 200,000 Ford vehicles on fuel leak risks. U.S. Auto safety regulator says it has received 27 complaints alleging diesel fuel leaks that may result in a fire. The agency says a fracture in the secondary fuel filter in the vehicles could result in the fire. Ford says it is working with the agency to support the investigation.
