The Beijing Municipal Housing, Urban-Rural Development Commission issued the “Beijing Municipal Housing Development Plan for the Fifteenth Five-Year Plan Period”. The “Plan” proposes to steadily advance the renovation of urban villages and complete the renovation of shantytown areas in an orderly manner. Adhere to the law and regulations, respect public opinion, and steady implementation, fully consider the rental and housing needs of the floating population, and promote the transformation of urban villages by means of demolition and new construction, renovation and upgrading, and combined demolition according to local conditions. The renovation of 57 urban villages was basically completed during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period. Firmly grasp the goals of shed reform and people's livelihood security, implement classification management according to the three types of promotion, exit, and transformation in line with the implementation progress of the project, push forward the completion of shantytown renovation projects in an orderly manner, and speed up the construction of the remaining projects and the resettlement of residents. Further improve the transformation of urban villages and establish a linked normalized promotion mechanism, reasonably determine the annual implementation scale and timing, and control project costs simultaneously.
