HKTDC: The US midterm elections may affect AI and semiconductor trade as a whole will have little impact on Hong Kong

The Zhitong Finance App learned that Hong Kong Trade Development Council Chairman Ma Shiheng said that Hong Kong's import and export trade grew strongly in the first nine months. One reason was that AI products and semiconductors performed very well. After the US midterm elections, related imports and exports may be adjusted, or affect Hong Kong's trade performance next year. However, Hong Kong has explored many emerging markets in recent years, and I believe it will not have much impact on Hong Kong. Overall, the outlook is cautiously optimistic.

He added that the development trend of AI will not stop, and the development of related industries in the US may slow down due to the midterm election results, which means that China is likely to develop faster.

Ma Shiheng also mentioned that the Kazakh railway company has been approved by the exchange and is expected to be listed in Hong Kong by the end of this year. In addition, the local sovereign fund issued 3 billion yuan dim sum bonds in Hong Kong earlier, highlighting Hong Kong's role as an international financial center. I believe Hong Kong's international financial center ranking is expected to soon rise to second place in the world.
