Statistics Indonesia said on Thursday that at a time when strong household consumption and exports withstood the severe global economic environment, the expansion of the Indonesian economy in the third quarter exceeded expectations. Indonesia's GDP grew by 5.47% year on year, higher than the median forecast of 5.2% in the media survey, and also higher than the 5.29% growth rate in the second quarter. This latest growth data shows that despite being impacted by market turbulence and political risks, Southeast Asia's largest economy is showing potential economic resilience. Indonesia's growth rate is roughly the same as Malaysia's 5.3% and Singapore's 5.4%, but Vietnam is still the best-performing economy in the region with a growth rate of nearly 10%.
