India's Information Minister Ashwini Vaisnau told reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday that India will allocate 145 billion rupees in subsidies to build 92 gigawatt-hours of energy storage capacity to make better use of its rapidly expanding renewable energy generation facilities and transmission grids. This financial support program will last until 2031 and aims to help companies in the energy storage industry start operations in this emerging market in its infancy. Currently, India's energy storage capacity is around 54 gigawatt-hours, but the government aims to reach 411 gigawatt-hours of energy storage in the 2031-32 fiscal year.
