Rich in sodium resources and outstanding cost advantages, sodium-ion batteries have important application potential in large-scale energy storage and other fields. Recently, researcher Hu Yongsheng and associate researcher Xie Fei of Group E01 of the Clean Energy Key Laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences/Beijing National Research Center for Condensed Matter Physics prepared a series of amorphous halide solid electrolytes xNAbF-ZrCl2 through a one-step mechanochemical method using low-cost NaBFand ZrClas precursors. The prepared solid electrolyte material shows a high room temperature ionic conductivity of 1.01 mS/cm. An all-solid sodium battery assembled based on this electrolyte material can stabilize the cycle for 400 weeks in the 2.5-4.2 V voltage range, and shows an excellent low temperature capacity retention rate. An effective strategy based on cationic competitive coordination to induce anion rearrangement, which in turn causes polyhedral distortion, provides important references and guidance for the source design of low-cost amorphous halide solid electrolyte materials.
