Super Micro Computer stock closed at US$29.60, down 5.7% on the day, even as the company reported a large Q1 FY2027 for investors who focus on the next few years rather than the next few hours. The quarter showed revenue of US$19.9b and basic earnings per share of US$1.92, set against a trailing P/E of 5.9.
Short term traders saw a selloff. Longer term holders saw an artificial intelligence data center company working to grow into its current valuation relative to global tech peers.

The bullish view hinges on Super Micro Computer turning its AI factories into a long runway of higher quality growth.
"The main thing that has to go right is that Super Micro Computer continues to scale its high density, liquid cooled rack and data center solutions while managing working capital intensity and compliance obligations."
On scale, Q1 shows real progress. Around 71% of revenue came from AI solutions, management reported shipments of thousands of high density racks, and FY2027 revenue guidance lifted to US$72b to US$82b. On working capital, the cash conversion cycle improved from 149 to 97 days, supported by customer prepayments and lower inventory days. This points to early traction against that stretch-goal narrative.

Bearish analysts argue that Super Micro Computer’s biggest vulnerability is operational discipline rather than AI demand.
"While management points to a record AI heavy order book supporting fiscal 2027 revenue guidance of US$65 to US$72b, the already stretched cash conversion cycle of 149 days and US$12.9b of inventory create a risk that future order timing or deal mix shifts leave Super Micro Computer with excess stock, delayed cash collection and pressure on gross margin and reported net income."
The latest quarter shows partial relief. Cash conversion shortened to 97 days and customer prepayments helped, yet inventory rose to US$15.1b and cash from operations was still negative. That mix says execution risk is not resolved, only managed better for now.
