Have Insiders Sold AGNC Investment Shares Recently?

Simply Wall St · 20h ago

Some AGNC Investment Corp. (NASDAQ:AGNC) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the President, Peter Federico, recently sold a substantial US$1.8m worth of stock at a price of US$8.84 per share. That sale reduced their total holding by 10% which is hardly insignificant, but far from the worst we've seen.

AGNC Investment Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Executive Chairman, Gary Kain, sold US$8.3m worth of shares at a price of US$11.91 per share. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is US$8.53. So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.

In the last year AGNC Investment insiders didn't buy any company stock. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Insider Ownership

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. It appears that AGNC Investment insiders own 0.5% of the company, worth about US$60m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At AGNC Investment Tell Us?

Insiders sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. Looking to the last twelve months, our data doesn't show any insider buying. While insiders do own shares, they don't own a heap, and they have been selling. So we'd only buy after careful consideration. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. At Simply Wall St, we've found that AGNC Investment has 4 warning signs (2 can't be ignored!) that deserve your attention before going any further with your analysis.
