PETALING JAYA: Jati Tinggi Group Bhd has secured a RM2.9mil contract from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) through an unincorporated joint venture (JV) for a Community Energy Storage System (CESS) project under the Pulau Tenaga Hijau Distribution Network.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jati Tinggi Holding Sdn Bhd (JTHSB) had received the letter of acceptance from TNB together with Reactive Energy Sdn Bhd (RESB). Under the JV arrangement, JTHSB will hold a 55% stake, while RESB will hold the remaining 45%.

This marks the company’s strategic entry into the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sector. The contract involves the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 150kW/430kWh CESS for integration with TNB’s distribution network.

The group said the project encompasses battery storage, power conversion, energy management and associated control systems, enabling excess solar energy to be stored for subsequent network use while supporting renewable energy integration and off-grid or microgrid applications.

The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
