Zhitong Finance App News, Shiyao Group (01093) announced that the phase II clinical trial (SYH2072-003) of SYH2072 tablets (this product) developed by the Group for the treatment of uncontrolled and refractory hypertension (SYH2072-003) has been officially launched at the first research center in China.

This product belongs to chemical class 1 and is a highly selective and potent aldosterone synthase inhibitor (ASI). This product can inhibit the activity of the key enzyme (CYP11B2) in aldosterone synthesis, block adrenocortical spherocyte synthesis and secretion of aldosterone, reduce the level of aldosterone in blood circulation, and reduce sodium retention, thereby reducing blood pressure and target organ damage associated with hypertension.

Compared with other aldosterone-modulating drugs such as salicocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRA), highly selective ASI blocks aldosterone synthesis at the source, effectively reduces plasma aldosterone levels, and can prevent aldosterone escape after long-term use. Non-clinical studies have shown that the product shows clear target activity and antihypertensive effects, and is safe, and is expected to provide patients with new treatment options.

The Group received the “Drug Clinical Trial Approval Notice” issued by the State Drug Administration of the People's Republic of China in December 2025, and commenced phase I clinical trials after approval. The safety and pharmacokinetic/ pharmacodynamic characteristics of this product in humans have been initially verified, and it has the potential to bring cardiovascular benefits to people with hypertension in China.

The clinical trial initiated this time is a multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase II clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this product in patients with uncontrolled hypertension (including patients with refractory hypertension) after receiving 2 or more antihypertensive drugs. Currently, the recruitment and screening of participants for this clinical trial is being actively promoted.
