The Zhitong Finance App learned that Musk said that the cost of running Grok Bot is “unsustainably high” compared to the revenue it generates. Previously, some users complained that their weekly usage quota had been unexpectedly exhausted. “The cost of providing Grok Bot services is unsustainably high compared to revenue,” Musk said in a post replying to X platform users on Sunday, and confirmed that the sudden usage restrictions were not caused by a technical failure.

Multiple users reported that despite limited or almost no use of the AI agent, its weekly quota was exhausted; some users claimed that their usage meter had reached 100% just a few days before the scheduled reset date.

Musk did not disclose the operating costs or revenue generated by the service, nor did it say whether usage restrictions will be permanently adjusted.

Developed by Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI, Grok Bot is an AI agent that uses virtual computers to perform tasks across applications and online services.
