According to the Zhitong Finance App, the Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong, Chen Guoji, said that from Friday to Sunday, the total number of visitors to Hong Kong was about 600,000, an increase of 34% over the same period last year. Of these, mainland and non-mainland visitors accounted for about 470,000 and 130,000 respectively. Meanwhile, the number of Hong Kong residents and visitors using Huanggang Port on Saturday and Sunday all exceeded 150,000, a record high.

Chan Kwok-ki said on the social media page that many large-scale events in Hong Kong have appeared one after another, such as the Central Waterfront Wine and Food Parade, a large-scale concert at Kai Tak Sports Park, and a Halloween atmosphere, and the market is very popular. According to industry reports, a series of events have driven the bar industry's overall business volume to increase by 30 to 50 percent year-on-year over the past two weekends. As for the Hong Kong Wine and Food Festival, it attracted more than 171,000 visitors, an increase of more than 5% year-on-year, and the business volume increased by about 8% year-on-year.

He pointed out that these figures showed that the event not only had a thriving atmosphere, but also turned passenger flow into consumption, business opportunities, and economic motivation, and actually achieved “prosperity for both Ding Cai.”

He mentioned that from 00:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. on November 1, more than 20,000 people left the country using Huanggang Port, a record high. Under strict waiting and early deployment by various departments, all lanes, self-service passages, and counters were opened before the peak to channel traffic flow. The Hong Kong Transport and Logistics Bureau has been maintaining communication with the transport industry to increase the number of overnight express routes from Central to Huanggang, making cross-border traffic generally smooth.

In addition to his front-line colleagues in the department, Chen Guoji also thanked the mainland department for agreeing to extend customs clearance time at Shenzhen Bay Port to facilitate travelers, fully demonstrating the determination and effectiveness of cooperation between the two places to jointly guide the flow of people across the border. He said that the SAR government will gather experience with various sectors and continue to optimize arrangements and cross-border collaboration, etc., to promote tourism through events, use tourism to bring consumption, and use consumption to revitalize the economy, and further promote the flourishing development of all walks of life in Hong Kong.
