Kraftia Corporation (TSE:1959) just released its latest half-year results and things are looking bullish. The company beat forecasts, with revenue of JP¥219b, some 4.8% above estimates, and statutory earnings per share (EPS) coming in at JP¥183, 61% ahead of expectations. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. So we collected the latest post-earnings statutory consensus estimates to see what could be in store for next year.
Taking into account the latest results, the current consensus from Kraftia's seven analysts is for revenues of JP¥505.3b in 2027. This would reflect a reasonable 3.8% increase on its revenue over the past 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are expected to decrease 7.3% to JP¥609 in the same period. Yet prior to the latest earnings, the analysts had been anticipated revenues of JP¥505.3b and earnings per share (EPS) of JP¥625 in 2027. So it looks like there's been a small decline in overall sentiment after the recent results - there's been no major change to revenue estimates, but the analysts did make a minor downgrade to their earnings per share forecasts.

It might be a surprise to learn that the consensus price target was broadly unchanged at JP¥11,250, with the analysts clearly implying that the forecast decline in earnings is not expected to have much of an impact on valuation. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. The most optimistic Kraftia analyst has a price target of JP¥13,600 per share, while the most pessimistic values it at JP¥7,700. There are definitely some different views on the stock, but the range of estimates is not wide enough as to imply that the situation is unforecastable, in our view.
Looking at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can make sense of these forecasts is to see how they measure up against both past performance and industry growth estimates. It's clear from the latest estimates that Kraftia's rate of growth is expected to accelerate meaningfully, with the forecast 7.7% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2027 noticeably faster than its historical growth of 6.1% p.a. over the past five years. Compare this with other companies in the same industry, which are forecast to grow their revenue 4.7% annually. It seems obvious that, while the growth outlook is brighter than the recent past, the analysts also expect Kraftia to grow faster than the wider industry.
The biggest concern is that the analysts reduced their earnings per share estimates, suggesting business headwinds could lay ahead for Kraftia. Happily, there were no major changes to revenue forecasts, with the business still expected to grow faster than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.
Following on from that line of thought, we think that the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings. We have forecasts for Kraftia going out to 2029, and you can see them free on our platform here.
