Strategy just released its Q3 2026 earnings and the stock reacted first, not the math. The share price fell 7.8% today to US$130.53 after a choppy month that already left the ticker down about 14% over 30 days.
The headline result was a swing back into profit, with basic earnings per share at US$47.77 and net income of US$19.1b. Traders focused on the recent volatility and past losses, while the financials present a different picture that puts the current selloff under closer scrutiny.

Supporters argue that Strategy is on its way to being a Bitcoin finance powerhouse, not just a trading vehicle tied to crypto swings.
"Management sets an extremely ambitious goal for Strategy to become the world’s most valuable company measured by market cap through owning the “most capital” in Bitcoin and issuing the “strongest credit” via Stretch."
Q3 shows parts of that playbook working operationally. The firm booked US$19.1b of profit and US$47.77 EPS, largely from a very large Bitcoin gain, while still keeping quarterly revenue broadly steady. At the same time, management directed sizeable cash toward preferred buybacks and daily dividend structures, which signals real effort to make Stretch behave like dependable credit rather than a trading token.
Critics worry the Stretch complex could prove fragile when markets stay choppy or Bitcoin sentiment cools.
"Yet management is already adjusting Stretch policies, U.S. dollar reserve targets and buyback plans to stabilise pricing, which suggests that if long run demand proves more cyclical or more sensitive to U.S. dollar reserve levels than expected, Strategy may need to keep more capital in low yielding cash and accept thinner spreads, resulting in slower revenue growth and lower net margins."
The latest quarter partly reflects that concern. Strategy paused heavy Bitcoin accumulation at times and deployed large U.S. dollar reserves into STRC buybacks, while accepting a small year on year revenue decline. Profit now leans heavily on non cash Bitcoin revaluation, which leaves underlying margin trends less clear and keeps the risk of thinner spreads on Stretch very much alive.

Strategy recently showed that a move into profit can occur alongside a falling share price. The real opportunity is spotting stocks that could be undervalued before the market closes the gap.
