Smartoptics Group came into this Q3 2026 report priced for excellence, trading on a rich P/E and fresh off a strong three month share run. The headline print delivered exactly the kind of quarter that justifies a premium story, with revenue of US$34.3m and net income of US$4.7m marking a powerful step up in scale.
Yet the closing price at NOK56 on 30 October indicates that the instant market reaction was more muted than the earnings beat narrative might suggest. For holders, the key point is the 20.6% EBIT margin, which now has to work hard enough to support that already stretched multiple.

The optimistic pitch is that Smartoptics Group can turn AI heavy traffic and new long reach products into a durable large account engine.
"Smartoptics Group anticipates strong future revenue growth from its large account strategy, with recent multi million dollar wins at Tier 2 operators in EMEA and the Americas suggesting that further upsizing of contracts and follow on projects could continue to lift revenue and earnings."
Q3 revenue reached US$34.3m with sales spread across Americas, EMEA and Asia, and Solutions leading. Record EBIT of US$7.1m and a 20.6% EBIT margin show operating leverage on those wins, while a 49.5% gross margin and US$7.6m operating cash flow indicate that current large account execution is lining up with that ambition.
The bear worry is that the same growth engine stalls if orders fail to convert or supply tightens.
"The main requirement is that Smartoptics Group continues to convert its broader optical transport offering and AI focused investments into sustained orders from large accounts while managing component supply constraints."
Management flagged component availability as the key swing factor for Q4 and for scaling into very large Tier 1 projects. Inventory has been lifted to US$22.8m and the credit facility expanded to NOK200m to secure parts, which partly counters this concern, yet explicit caution around seasonality and supply shows that this risk is present rather than hypothetical.
