The talks are “decisive” in resolving the Ukrainian issue. In an interview with Zalubin, the TV presenter of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Company, Ushakov said that the tripartite talks between Russia, the US, and Ukraine are “decisive” for everything that has happened over the years and for the future. Earlier, during a meeting with US presidential envoy Witkov, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Russia is preparing to resume tripartite talks. Referring to the possibility that representatives of European countries may go to Abu Dhabi, Ushakov said that even if relevant representatives were present and communicated with Ukraine or the US, they could not be regarded as participating in the talks. Russian presidential press secretary Peskov also said on the 30th that it may be “necessary” for the European side to participate at some stage of the negotiations, but there are currently no substantive discussions on this. Ushakov also said that US President Trump was firm on the issue of asking the Ukrainian military to stop attacking Russian refineries, but Ukraine did not comply. Referring to the future, he said that all parties hope and are committed to ending the conflict, and Russia supports the US side's attitude towards resuming negotiations.
