Shell, Total Energy, and Repsol announced strong third-quarter results on October 29. Affected by the Middle East war driving up energy prices and tightening global diesel supply, refining profit margins rose sharply, driving the profits of major European oil companies close to the high level during the 2022 energy crisis. Among them, Shell's adjusted profit for the third quarter reached 10.8 billion US dollars, the second-highest in history. The profit margin for refined oil products reached 3.8 billion US dollars, and the refining profit margin rose from 24 US dollars per barrel in the second quarter to a record 42 US dollars; Total Energy's adjusted net profit reached 9.1 billion US dollars, which more than doubled year on year, exceeding market expectations; and Repsol's adjusted net profit increased 260% year over year to 2.7 billion euros. All six of its refineries benefited from the increase in refining profit margins.
